Foram of Thamna
Foram in short:
Senior Citizen Foram Thamna established on 18th March 2005. The establishment took place to give tribute to Shri Babalbhai Mehta not only by the people of Thamna but also the Gujaratis of Gujarat, India and abroad.
With the inspiration and hard work of Shri Mahendrabhai C.Patel to fulfil the leftover dreams of late Shri Babalbhai Mehta, a sarvodaya karyakar and a true follower of Mahatma Gandhiji in memory of whom this institution is established. With the blessings of him the institution, since last four years engaged in various social, religious, cultural, educational and health activities, shramyagnas, Garba competition, Ramat-gamat harifai (Sport contests) have achieved success that we are proud for. We are hopefull to achieve more success in the future by irradiating the modern society and youth in general on the path of love, harmony, unity and co-operation by introducing most exemplary activities like these and many more through the media of our Foram and planting seeds of culture and civilization in them.
The promises what we made through our constitution at the time of commencement of the Senior Citizen Foram we are proud of fulfilling them during the suggested period which spread the fragrance for the Foram. It will not be too much to say that the seeds what we plant in unselfish and dutiful fertile land during this period , we sure, will grow, prosper and give sweet fruits in the future when time ripe to the society. The success of all the activities what we performed during all these years is because of help and co-operation from the members of the Foram and in particular the help of the youth involved in it who takes good care to avoid the difficulties whatsoever we may have suffer and we heartily bless them to be more active and creative in the future to help build the new society in new era and pray God to keep them healthy and socially united. Beyond this the success should not have been easier without the help, co-operation and assistance of the people from Thamna- local residents and those who resided abroad- who help us in either way.
During these period we were able to organise nearly ten eye camps through which over 300 people get their eyes cured. Also we organised general physician camps, acupressure camp, dental camp etc where people from Thamna, Khijalpur, Masra and Ghora took advantage and get necessary help. In the field of education also we ran night tution classes for the students studying in Std.X and from this year we organised day tution classes for them for English, Maths and Science. Now we are engaged in making health card for the members of the Foram through which they can get treatment of all kind of minor and major sickness at a concessional rates with the help of the Doctors from Umreth, Dakor and Anand. Also they will get benefits in making various pathological tests and in medicines. We organising short and long distance tours at least twice a year with minimum token fees and providing entertainment to the members. We have 60 yearly members, 34 life time members and 20 young coordinators. We have set up an example in reducing the generation gap between young and old generation by including youth as our assistants. We are trying our best to build a new society ,better society. We also print a book of activities and financial report for the first year & third year named Jivansandhya ne Sathware..
